Frame are a family run business and have been involved in timber frame for 30
years. Experience and quality has been key to our success.
Here at Sms
Timber Frame we can take a clients project at planning stage and offer a fixed
price based on the architects drawing / sketch provided. We provide all our
customers with a full scope of works and a step by step specification
explaining in full what our quotation covers. Once the order is confirmed Sms
Timber Frame liaise with both the architect and client and finalise the design
of the project. Design of the timber frame super structure can now begin.
Prior to
manufacturing the timber frame kit, Sms Timber Frame carry out a site survey,
whereby we check both the access and the slab to ensure that our frame will
make it to the site and that it will fit. If, for any reasons there is an issue
with either the access or the slab size, the kit can then be altered at design
level ( i.e. using a smaller panel format ).
The design
is then sent to our specially built factory for manufacture. Here at Sms Timber
Frame we DO NOT use an automated panel making system, we employ two
highly skilled panel makers who manufacture our panels to tolerances of around
2mm over a three metre area. We believe that the quality of an end product
highly depends on the manufacture step, therefore, we make the effort to build
in more manufacture time to ensure your timber frame kit is perfect for the
site erect.
Here at Sms
Timber Frame we offer a range of solutions for your timber frame project. As
standard we offer “Eco” pressed web
joists which are manufactured in house by Sms Timber Frame ( posi-joists) and
we manufacture them to 50% of permitted deflection leaving our client with a
solid floor with extremely easy access for services but primarily, a very
speedy erect. We also offer an engineered stud system, whereby we can
manufacture panels up to 400mm deep and provide a panel completely free of cold
bridging through studs. We strongly believed that this, coupled with ICYNENE
foam expanding insulation we can provide a panel with a U Value better than any
other on the market without using SIP or Closed panel systems ( which take a
long time in manufacture and are inconvenient at site level.

Timber Frame we pride ourselves on having both the on-site knowledge and the
ability to be able to design your project around this knowledge to ensure the
project runs as smoothly as possible at site level, but also we have the
ability to combine new products and create whole new systems that are not used
in the construction industry by anyone else, and can be tailored specifically
to your job.
